Using the Calculator:

Step 1: Enter Local Electricity Costs:
If you have your electric bill available, enter your actual electric utility rate as shown on your monthly electric bill in $/kWhr.

If you do not have this information available, leave this cell blank (or enter “0”) and choose the U.S. State where you live from the list below.  The list retrieves average electricity rates from the U.S. Department of Energy, current as of January 2007 http://www.eia.doe.gov.

Step 2: Choose Wind Regime Class OR Average Annual Wind Speed (NOT BOTH):
If you know your average annual wind speed, enter it in mph. If you do not have this information available, leave the cell blank and see below.

If you don’t know your average annual wind speed, click on this link http://www.windpowermaps.org/default.asp  to search for the wind regime class in your area. Once you have this information, choose the appropriate value from the list.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you type in your average annual wind speed, be sure that the Wind Regime Class value box is set to “NONE.”

Step 3: Enter the Total Installed System Cost:
Enter the total cost of your system, including installation and other associated costs.

 

*Solar input not included in Payback calculations.  All values are based on the VT10-240 10kW Wind Turbine alone.  Adding solar panels to your system would increase energy production.
